What’s on this January – March

As part of the Healthy Living Centre Alliance and funding from the Department for Communities we are excited to be part of the Warm, Well and Connected Project.

We will be offering you a range of programmes/workshops online during the next 3 months. But the benefit or our regional collaboration means you can access any programme across N.Ireland. To find out what is available please visit hlcalliance.org and look for the Warm, Well Connected banner.

Locally online we will be hosting the following programmes:

  • uHub – Supporting Teens
  • Urban Community Chef – Empowered Cooking
  • Recharge CIC – Carers Retreat
  • Soulsa
  • Chi Me
  • Stay Connected Keep Learning
  • Take 5 and applying it
  • Dealing with Stress and Understanding Emotions

Mindset Programme

Mindset Programme Wednesday 25th November

We will be hosting a Mental & Emotional Health and Wellbeing delivered by Action Mental Health.

The 3 hour session will be held at Kircubbin Community Centre and is free:

  • Wednesday 25th November
  • 1.30-4.30pm

COVID-19 Restriction Update

Update 15th October 2020

Following Government guidelines announced yesterday we will be adhering to the restrictions outlined. Starting 15th October and running for 4 weeks.

What that means for the centre:

  • Gym members can attend (must pre-book and can only attend as an individual)
  • All classes in person are on hold
  • All groups in person are on hold
  • Online classes will remain and some new classes will become available
  • The office will not be manned full time and so use email or Facebook to contact us

Staff and you safety is our priority and we hope that you understand the action we are having to take at this time.

AGM Sept 2020

Online AGM

We are adjusting our ways of working and that includes how we deliver our Annual General Meeting. This year we will be taking to Zoom host the meeting. We would love for you to join us, we will keep you updated on how things are going.

Healthy happy kids: Lunchbox & Snack Ideas

Back to School lunch and snack Zoom session

Our colleagues over at dietetics have been working regionally to produce a series of workshops to run in the coming months. Everyone is welcome to attend the online sessions via Zoom, you can download it for free at zoom.us.

Restart your Education Coffee Morning

Virtual Coffee Morning with SERC

Are you fed up, struggling to help your kids with their school work, generally want to make a change to your life and it’s direction? Restart Education is a place to start.
Guests Fiona Neely and Ellie Bradley from SERC will be taking us through accessing this free part-time course that will open the door to a range of other learning. On completion you will achieve a Level 2 OCN. There is means testing for support with enrolling on the course e.g. childcare, stationery etc.
But hey, come and join us on the 10th September to find out if this is right for you, there is no obligation and it is very informal.

Spring Workshops August/Sept

Join us online for a range of workshops

Our Spring Social Prescribing service has diversified throughout lockdown, offering telephone support and now socially distanced meet ups. Alongside this, regionally we have a variety of online workshops that you can access for free. Workshops change each month, so check back in if you don’t see one that suits you this time.

Carer Health and Wellbeing Matters

Free Carer Taster Day

The South Eastern HSC Trust Carer Support in partnership with Peninsula Healthy Living have organised a free Carer Taster Day.

When: Wednesday 4th September 2019

Where: Peninsula Healthy Living, 4 Church Grove, Kircubbin, BT22 2SU

Time: 10.30am – 3pm

We will be offering a range of activities for all age groups including:

  • Gently Does It
  • Spin sessions
  • A reading group
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Chair based activity
  • An introduction to the gym
  • Green Gym
